Biography

Kyra trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama graduating in 1994. She started off doing T.I.E tours and community theatre and then went on to work at various rep theatres such as Salisbury Playhouse and Basingstoke Haymarket. She has performed in several seasons at the Torch Theatre, playing Audrey in The Little Shop of Horrors, Jan in Bedroom Farce, and the Ice Maiden, Rinigar, in the Torch’s Christmas show – Danny and the Donkeyman and the Search for the Magic Crystal. For the Torch’s jubilee production, she played Nurse Ratched in their award-winning production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Playing Angela in Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party, she was in the first production by U.K Touring Theatre which played to ex-pat audiences in Qatar and Bahrain with great success. And she got to perform to audiences in Hungary when she took a one-woman show there; Once Upon a Time In Tring, performing at the Merlin Theatre, Budapest.

She played the lead in 2 adverts back in 1998 – one for Nestle’s Pretzel Flipz and the other for Kellogg’s Rice Krispies and in that same year, helped co-found the Little London Theatre Company with fellow actor, Alexander McConnell. The aim of their company was to showcase new writing and new adaptations of existing plays and in all they’ve produced and starred in around 13 plays at the Soho Theatre and on the London Fringe. Through the Little London Theatre Company, Kyra got to create the roles of Sally in Got The Map?, Penny in Afters (as part of The Usual Table trilogy of plays) and Olga in After Chekhov and she continues to work with up and coming as well as more established writers through various rehearsed reading groups.

More recently, she joined the 54th cast of The Mousetrap in the West End, playing the lead role of Mollie and has recently played Rosie in a short film highlighting domestic abuse entitled Our Secret World for Moon Watcher Productions. She sings and is a skilled musician and plays the cello, piano and recorders to grade 8 standard.
